1. Turn off Airport, Bluetooth
2. Disconnect peripherals
3. Turn down the screen brightness
4. Turn down/off the backlit keyboard
5. Keep the battery cool
6. Quit applications if not in use
7. Eject CDs and DVDs if not in use
